Visit to Passivhaus Junguitu houses

On November 9, taking advantage of the Passivhaus open days around the world, Playarquitectura together with the Delegation of La Rioja from the Passivhaus Building Platform of Spain visited the Passivhaus de Junguitu homes in Vitoria.

In total, about 20 people attended the visit who were treated with great cordiality by the owner Adelina Uriarte who explained, together with Iñaki Etxeandia, one of the architects of the houses, the design and execution procedure of the promotion of 3 single-family homes built to meet Passivhaus standard. The explanation was very interesting and exhaustive, since the visit was also attended by the architect Juan María Hidalgo, a researcher in training at the UPV / EHU in charge of the monitoring of a home, who was able to relate the impressive experiences of thermal stability and comfort interior after 9 months of monitoring. The moment of greatest interest came when they entered the house and went from an outside temperature of 10º with wind to an inside temperature of 22º and Adelina commented that this year the heating had not yet been turned on and that it consisted of 3 heaters 400W electric, that is 1.2 KW of total heating power, which translated into euros is about € 250 per year for heating a 180 m2 house !!!! On the other hand, we were pleasantly surprised by the silence inside the house, especially the permanent interior ventilation circuit that was imperceptible, as well as the interior warmth of all the surfaces, especially the windows.

For those of us who are dedicated to architecture it seems like a dream come true!

We want to thank Adelina and Iñaki for the cordiality and interest offered during the intense visit to the Junguitu Passivhaus houses.
