On September 29, 2015, one day after the inauguration of the Municipal Library of Villamediana de Iregua, the official certificate of the Passivhaus Institut was received proving compliance with the Passivhaus standard. This certificate guarantees that the heating demand will be less than 15 kWh / m²a, that the total primary energy demand will be less than 120 kWh / m²a, that the hermetic value is less than 0.6 h-1 and that the The comfort and hygiene conditions of the interior space are unbeatable. 

The Library of Villamediana de Iregua thus becomes the first public building in Spain certified with the Almost Null Energy Consumption Building standard Passivhaus, in turn being the first Passivhaus certified building in La Rioja.
